The Twittersphere is a big place, so how do you Target Leads from Social Media? The answer is geo-targeting and niche targeting. Using something like MaketMeSuite’s Reply Campaigns is just the ticket!

This totally user controlled, organic way to connect with potential customers really breaks the mold for Twitter Marketing.  You can set up campaigns that will search the Twittersphere for tweets in within 1 mile to 1000 miles of a location, for specific words. You can even control what words to exclude by putting words in our “negative” keywords section. So if I’m looking for people who “like” something, I may want to exclude the word hate.

Now all you need to do is add your ‘Negative Keywords’. This means you can tailor your search for only positive tweets bout your subject choice. Again you can find the trip along the bottom of the control page. You can add as many as you like to make sure that you get the best results you can :)

Tricks and Tips

We find the best way to engage users in conversation is by phrasing things as a question.

Say the keyword is ‘antiques.’  You can say: “I see you tweeted about antiques, what type do you collect?”or “Do you know of any good antique auctions?”

Start out by selecting keywords, and putting in at least one reply template per keyword but please, vary your replies and use plenty of custom replies. This is entirely user controlled!

Remember, the more you put into it the more you get out of it.

Use GeoCodes.

You can target within 1000 miles of a specific location. All you have to do is type the city, county, zip code, postal code. Any of these will do!

Check the tweets before replying.

This is important. When you click “run” a bunch of tweets will show up. You really want to read through these before clicking reply so you know your responses will make sense. If you start seeing tweets that don’t pertain to your keyword, start using negative keywords.

Use Negative Keywords:

This is a very powerful tool you have at your disposal, so make sure to utilize it! If you are seeing tweets filter through that don’t make sense for your campaign, start putting words in that will make the filter stronger. For example, if my keyword is “antiques” a negative keyword I may want to filter out is “hate” so I don’t get any tweets that say “I hate antiques.” Keep working with this tool. As you see more and more tweets you will be able to hone the results :)

Following these steps will improve your results DRAMATICALLY! You’ll be shocked at how simply starting a conversation can help you gain followers that are turned into CUSTOMERS.
